Dr. Julio C. Arroyo is native to Spain, where he completed college studies with a concentration in Optics and Optometry. Then he decided to come to Houston, where he received a Doctor of Optometry in 1999. As an optometry expert in The Woodlands, Dr. Arroyo is certified for the treatment of eye disease and as an optometric glaucoma specialist. He is one of the few Ortho-K expert practitioners in the Houston area and the first to obtain the elite Wave Corneal Molding certification.
Dr. Arroyo has done extensive studying and training in non-surgical refractive correction of myopia and astigmatism, as well as hyperopia (farsightedness). He also has considerable experience in anterior segment disease, glaucoma management, macular degeneration (M-Sharp protocol), pediatric eye care, and binocular disorders. In addition, he has served as an adjunct Professor of Optometry at the University Eye Institute, University of Houston—further highlighting his eye specialist experience The Woodlands residents and beyond have come to trust.
Dr. Arroyo is very passionate about holistic health care and complementary medicine. He has earned the Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner (CFMP) credential by successfully completing a 200+ hour post-graduate program from Functional Medicine University, making him one of the first certified functional medicine optometric practitioners in the country. Over the last 10 years, he continues to collaborate with multiple TV and radio programs as an eye expert—including Fox News, Univision, KHOU, Telemundo, and others—demonstrating his renowned optometry Texas contributions.
